MCE FOR SAVELUGU LAUNCHES INSTALLATION OF 446 SOLAR STREET LIGHTS IN SAVELUGU.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Savelugu, Hon. Alhassan Fuseini Bagaman, today successfully launched the installation of a comprehensive Solar Street Light Project in the Nayili Fong South and North Electoral Areas of the municipal capital.
Addressing the media after the launch, the Hon. MCE disclosed that the project is an initiative of the Savelugu Municipal Assembly under his leadership, following a formal request he submitted to the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition for street lights.
He expressed profound gratitude to the sector Minister, Hon. John Jinapor, and H.E. President John Dramani Mahama for rolling out the initiative and supporting the Assembly’s development agenda.
Under Phase 1 of the project, 446 solar-powered street lights will be installed across Savelugu township.
The MCE pledged that additional installations will follow in the coming days to extend coverage to other communities within the municipality.
This landmark initiative marks a significant step toward improving security, enhancing nighttime visibility, and boosting socio economic activities in the township.
He further underscores the Assembly’s commitment to sustainable development through renewable energy solutions.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Alhassan Fuseini (Bagaman) emphasized the project’s importance in addressing challenges associated with poor lighting, particularly in residential areas and along major roads. He noted that the solar powered lights will reduce the Assembly’s energy costs while contributing to environmental sustainability.
The MCE appealed to residents to take ownership of the facilities and protect them against theft and vandalism to ensure long-term benefits for the entire municipality. He reaffirmed the Assembly’s dedication to implementing more development projects aimed at improving the quality of life for the people of Savelugu.
The event was graced by traditional leaders, assembly members, community stakeholders, and residents, all of whom lauded the initiative and expressed optimism about its positive impact on safety, commerce, and nightlife in the municipality.
