REDREDGING OF THE LALIGU DAM AS PART OF ONGOING EFOORTS TO IMPROVE WATER AVAILABILITY AND TO SUPPORT AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE MUNICIPALITY

The Municipal Chief Executive for Savelugu, Hon. Alhassan Fuseini (Bagaman), together with the municipal assembly has initiated the redredging of the Laligu Dam as part of ongoing efforts to improve water availability and support agricultural activities within the municipality.

This important intervention is aimed at restoring the dam’s capacity, which has been significantly reduced over the years due to siltation. By dredging the dam, the Assembly seeks to ensure a reliable water source for dry-season farming, livestock, and other socio-economic activities that depend on it.

Speaking during an inspection of the project, Hon. Bagaman emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to enhancing food security and improving livelihoods across communities. He noted that the dredging exercise will not only boost irrigation farming but also create opportunities for local farmers to increase productivity throughout the year.

He further assured residents of the Assembly’s dedication to investing in critical infrastructure that directly impacts their well-being. Community members expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as timely and beneficial to the development of Laligu and its surrounding areas.

The dredging of the Laligu Dam stands as a testament to the proactive leadership of Hon. Alhassan Fuseini (Bagaman) in addressing key developmental challenges in the Savelugu Municipality.
