41st National Farmers’ Day

The Savelugu Municipal Assembly, led by Hon. Alhassan Fuseini, Municipal Chief Executive, has today 5th December 2025 celebrated the 41st National Farmers’ Day in Kpalung.
In his keynote address,
Hon. Alhassan Fuseini extended greetings from the chiefs and people of the municipality to farmers and fisher-folks, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to agricultural development.

The celebration’s theme, ‘Feed Ghana, Secure the Future,’ emphasized prioritizing local food production, enhancing value chains, and adopting sustainable farming practices.
Hon.MCE highlighted agriculture as a mainstay of the economy, citing the Savanna Agriculture Value Chain Development Project (SAVDEP) for supporting farmers through impactful interventions.

These interventions include distributing livestock, providing input support, and installing solar-powered irrigation facilities. The municipality has also benefited from the Farmer Mechanization Center, with 20 acres of land earmarked for the project.

Hon. MCE thanked partners for their support, citing th Affordable Agricultural Financing for Rural Resilience Development (AAFORD) program and the Feed Ghana program. The municipality has enrolled 415 farmer-based organizations onto a digital platform to access inputs and services.

The Nkoko Nkiti Nkiti program, launched by President John Dramani Mahama, aims to benefit every district with 10,000 four-week-old fowls for poultry production. The Hon. MCE congratulated award winners, praising their commitment and innovation.
