
SAVELUGU MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING OF THE 10TH SESSION.

The Savelugu Municipal Assembly convened its third General Assembly meeting of the 10th session today, with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Alhassan Fuseini, delivered a comprehensive address that highlighted the municipality’s strategic priorities and achievements across multiple sectors.
On Peace and Security , the Hon MCE revealed.
the municipal security council has intensified patrols and intelligence sharing with the police to curb incidents. He call for Collaboration with security agencies aims to ensure a safer environment for residents.
On Drug Abuse ,The MCE lamented the rising trade in narcotics and announced joint action by MUSEC and traditional leaders to arrest offenders, run sensitization campaigns, and provide rehabilitation programs.
On Environmental Health and Sanitation .
Hon MCE Revealed ,Monthly National Sanitation Days are being enforced to promote clean surroundings and public hygiene, keeping a very good environmental health practices.
On Agriculture and Rural Development
Hon MCE Maintained , the municipality is focused on three areas.
Farmers’ Organization and Capacity Building.
Under the Feed Ghana program, 615 farmers‑based organizations were registered, and 4,500 farmers (4,000 male, 1,500 female) received good agronomy training.
Also on Extension Services ,
96 Community‑Based Extension Agents were trained under SAFEGORCARE to boost agricultural support.
Input Support and Distribution, efforts are underway to strengthen farmer access to inputs.
On Education, the Hon MCE stressed that education extends beyond infrastructure.
According to Hon MCE,
The municipality is implementing School Performance Improvement Plans and performance contracts for public schools to enforce accountability and set measurable academic goals.
On Health, Hon MCE stated ,Progress was reported in health service delivery and disease prevention. He maintained,
The Savelugu Municipal Hospital participated in the 2025 Ghana Health Service Peer Review, scoring 81.4
on healthcare quality despite financial and logistical hurdles.
He pledged continued support to the Health Directorate for surveillance, facilities, and overall quality improvement.
On Financial Performance
Internal Generated Fund (IGF)
Revenue mobilization has risen due to enhanced local revenue strategies.
District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) on September 2025, the Assembly received GhC 6,306,430.64for two quarters, surpassing the total DACF for all of 2024.
MP’s Common Fund
₵510,723.58 was allocated to two legacy projects.
On 24‑Hour Economy, The Hon MCE stated, the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs is organizing an orientation program on 24‑hour economy initiatives and Model Market Designs. A team assessed site locations and facility readiness, aiming to operationalize national policy directives by end‑2025.
The Hon MCE, further stated , the Reset Agenda of President John Dramani Mahama.
According to Hon MCE,The Savelugu Municipal Assembly has aligned its priorities with the “Reset Agenda,” focusing on basic services, livelihoods, and infrastructure. Projects include:
Construction of a CHPS compound at Kpong.
A 6‑unit classroom block at Zanu‑Deen E/A Primary School in Nayilifong.
A 2‑unit kindergarten block at Sakpuli.
Renovation of the Assembly Hall.
Drilling and mechanizing boreholes in communities such as Chahi‑Yapalsi, Diare, and the Boys Industrial School to improve safe drinking water access.
In his concluding remarks, Hon. MCE reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to the Reset Agenda, emphasizing sustained efforts to uplift service delivery, livelihoods, and local infrastructure for the benefit of all Savelugu residents.
